Cancellation policy-

If you are unable to attend a webinar, please email Adrienne at adrienne@abacnj.com as soon as you can. We will not accept cancellations within 1 hour of the webinar start time.  If your cancellation is received prior to 1 hour before the event, we are happy to move you into another webinar or issue a refund. Please check make sure you know how long the webinar recording is available for. Most events are recorded and access is granted for up to 5 days. We do not offer transfers to other webinars or workshops if you miss the webinar.

In the rare event ABAC must cancel a webinar due to low enrollment or presenter conflict, an email will be sent to all individuals who have already signed up arranging an transfer to another webinar or a refund.

Attendance Codes:

Participants are required to attend the entire webinar.  ABAC presenters embed codes randomly within their webinar. These are not hidden. The codes are read out loud and left on the screen for about 20s. The codes are not case sensitive. You must write them down or other wise record them as participants must submit the codes via our attendance code submission form following the webinar to ensure attendance.

Assessment:

In addition, participants are required to pass a post-test with 80% accuracy.

Other:

The moderator will present a visual model of how to access the post-test, evaluation, and code-submission form at the end of the webinar.

Each of these are formatted as online forms and are available after the live event and for the duration of the recording access period.

Title: Special Issue  Recording: Treatment of Overnight Toileting Issues in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Abstract

Although often related, daytime and nighttime continence are separate skills. Some children who have difficulty with daytime toilet training seem to have no issues with overnight training. On the other hand, many children who have achieved daytime continence with relative ease seem to be delayed in achieving overnight training. Treatment options must be tailored to the reason behind the toileting issue and include physiological, environmental, behavioral, maturational and sometimes socio-emotional interventions. The current workshop will present the audience with procedures for conducting an assessment of the problem behavior and how to collect functional assessment data that will be helpful in guiding treatment. Treatment options, based on function, will be presented. Behavioral treatments, including contingency contracting, wetness signaling alarms, dry-bed training and antecedent strategies will be discussed in detail. Relevant research will be cited where appropriate. A brief review of daytime toileting procedures, including bladder training, will be provided. Time will be left for audience questions.

Learning Objectives

Following the webinar:

1. The participants will be able to identify effective treatments based on function of overnight toileting accidents.
2. The participants will be able to identify when issues include a physiological component and identify three physiological treatments that may be helpful.
3. The participants will be able to select three behavioral treatment strategies for overnight incontinence.
4. The participants will be able to select methods of determining function of toileting accidents.

Presenter Bio and Disclosure Statement

Dr. Frank Cicero is a New York State licensed psychologist, licensed behavior analyst and board certified behavior analyst with over 20 experience working in the fields of applied behavior analysis and autism spectrum disorders. He received his master's degree in school psychology from St. John’s University and his doctoral degree in educational psychology from the City University of New York Graduate Center. Dr. Cicero is currently an assistant professor and ABA program director for Seton Hall University, New Jersey. Prior to this position, he served as the Director of Psychological Services for the Eden II Programs, an applied behavior analysis agency in the New York City area serving children and adults on the autism spectrum. Dr. Cicero continues a private practice for child/adolescent psychology and ABA and conducts program consultations in best practice treatment for autism, developmental disabilities and problem behavior. Dr. Cicero frequently conducts workshops and trainings nationally on a variety of topics within his fields of expertise.
